Interior design and interior decorating are distinctly different services. Interior design involves working with our client’s architect or general contractor to build a new space or renovate a space to allow for better functionality, light, and flow. Once this is done, the project progresses onto paint palette, textiles, furniture, carpet and decorative furnishings. Interior design is typically a longer process than the decorating process as it focuses on bringing architectural design concepts to life. Interior decorating is all about “dressing” a room with decorative accents to create a warm, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing environment.

We built our dream home overlooking the water on Kittery Point and while Shannon was on site taking measurements for our closets, garage and pantry, I asked her opinion on a room that hadn’t been fully framed. After a few minutes of brainstorming and sketching on a piece of paper, she came up with a design and floor plan for my now favorite place in the house. Shannon then came back another day to talk with our builder about her design and before we knew it, a cozy sitting area with beautiful built ins and a gas fireplace was built. I enjoyed every minute of working with Shannon and look forward to working with her again on another project!
